“I think the fantasy world is more about reality; the reality that we do not talk about but we do know it exists, we feel it, inside us and among us..”

Camilla Schneeberger, (she/her) a student in her second year at the SOA.
Painting
”I am a second year student at the School of Art and I have a great passion for painting. I practice everyday and it is my hopes to one day create paintings of fantasy scenes that explore alternate worlds. As for right now, I practice painting people, objects and I especially enjoy doing plein air paintings which really allow me to connect with nature. A main source of inspiration has always been nature and especially the light of the sun.”

Julia Mary Langer, (she/her) a first year student at the SOA.
Painting
”My work is a reflection of myself and my close surroundings, rarely reaching very far out into the world. I have a fascination with identity and how we present ourselves to the world: our physical appearances, what we say and how we say it, and what we choose to leave out. This has drawn me to self-portraiture. I have always used it as a way to rationalize and visually explain my thoughts and feelings, so much of my art is very personal. I want it to tell the viewer something about me; maybe they can relate. Vulnerability is key to the art that I make.”

Ozma George, (she/her) student in her third year, second year at the SOA.
Watercolor, Gouache
”Ozma George explores themes in her art of cute creatures going on adventures and bright, whimsical landscapes. She explores themes of inner turmoil through these creatures embarking on dangerous voyages and battling monsters. She works primarily with watercolor, gouache, and digital drawing. She is a Winnipeg based artist currently in the University of Manitoba School of Art.”
Rae Swan, (she/they) in her 3rd year at the SOA.
Multi Modal
”Through my art I reflect truths within our world. Sometimes I find a painting captures the essence of a dream, or a photograph can represent a moment of humility. Regardless of form, the work I create is often ethereal and welcomes external presence. The worlds and characters within my art are to be explored by others. They reflect what I feel and know about place and existence.”

Mixed Media, Digital
”The feminine form is the one I am most familiar with and is often the basis for my work. Some of these forms are versions of my physical self, how how I see or wish to be seen. I work with many mediums, including pencil, pen, marker, acrylic paint and even digital and sculpture, some works have both traditional and digital versions, when I cannot decide which I prefer. I have recently been delving into the folklore and superstition of my homeland of Trinidad and I am moving my works to include more of those stories and characters.”
